Hatching chicks

12th May 2015
We have had a very exciting week in Early Years (wc 11/05/2015) . We have been carefully watching the eggs we were incubating and on day 18, it was "lock down" which meant Miss Beresford prepared the incubator ready for the eggs to pip. On day 19 when we arrived in school 3 eggs had pipped in preparation for hatching. By the end of the day 6 eggs had pipped. On Tuesday evening the first of the eggs began to hatch and at 7pm we had the first of our chicks. By 9 pm 3 chicks had hatched. Wednesday was a very busy day and by the end of the day we had 12 baby chicks. Three more hatched on Thursday morning and we have 15 baby chicks in total. They have been placed in the brooder and are throughly enjoying watching all of the children when they visit them. For more chick updates visit the Reception Class page.
