Safer Internet Day - 7 February

7th February 2017

On Tuesday 7 February we will be celebrating Safer Internet Day in school.  This is a global initiative that encourages safe internet use as well as highlighting online safety issues.  It’s an invaluable opportunity to promote the importance of good online conduct to children as well as reminding them what a fantastic resource the internet is when used well.  This year’s theme - Unite for a better internet: be the change - draws on how people interact with one another online, and the positive outcome in collectively calling for a ‘better’ internet.  The teachers have lots of activities planned for the children to take part in and we hope that you can support our work in this area.  Discuss with your child what their favourite things about the internet are and how they’d like to improve it.  Why not ask them to share some online safety tips with you?  That way you can find out what knowledge they’re confident in implementing online and the areas they may need extra support with.  If you’d like to find out more visit http://parentinfo.org/  for advice on how to keep your child safe online.  Or if you have any concerns or want to discuss any issues in relation to your child’s online safety please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s teacher or myself.
