Summer Fete 2016 - Help!

24th June 2016

Corbridge First School Summer Fete – Saturday 2 July 2016 – Help!

We’ve already started organising this year’s summer fete – we’re planning lots of exciting activities and games to make sure it is a fun filled afternoon for everyone.   There are only four school weeks before the day of the fete and there is still a huge amount to plan and organise.  We need lots of help and are really hoping that we can rely on your support.   It is really great when parents and carers get involved – the children love it and you will too.

Below is a summary of what we have planned and where we need help.  The summer fete is always a popular and very successful fundraiser for the school.  If you read to the bottom of the page you’ll find out how we plan to spend the funds raised at this year’s event.

If you can spare us a little of your time please complete and return the attached reply slip to me by the end of this week (Friday 10 June).

We will, as usual, start the afternoon with our traditional parade through the village.  Timings and meeting arrangements will follow nearer the time.  We would welcome help with marshalling the parade.

Entry to the fair

Donations can be made but this year we are not going to charge an entry fee ... so you’ll be able to access all the fun even quicker!

Attractions and Wristband Entry

This year we have booked a large inflatable slide and a bouncy castle.  We are also hoping to secure a climbing wall and possibly trampolines and crazy golf as well.

If you have any contacts or could help us acquire other attractions for the children please let us know.

When we have confirmed the attractions we plan to offer an “All Inclusive Wristband”.  We will sell the bands in advance of the fete as well as on the day.  Depending on how many attractions we secure and the level of sponsorship we will work out a competitive price for the wristband.  However, it may still be possible to pay per attraction.

Sponsorship

To date we have two sponsors for the attractions:

£200 from Vision for Education – our Teaching Supply Agency and

Corbridge Kids Club

We would really welcome further sponsorship

If you can secure any sponsorship or have any ideas to help us please get in touch.

  • Plants / seedlings / cuttings for our plant stall
  • Toys, books and teddies
  • Tombola prizes – chocolates, wine, toiletries…
  • Outgrown school uniforms (to be available for donations rather than for sale)
  • Cakes, tray-bakes, cupcakes etc  (a letter will be sent the week of the fete as a reminder)

Other activities

Speciality Fair Confectionery / Hot Food – Carousel Confectioners will be on site with a sweet kiosk (toffee apples/candy floss etc) and a hot food unit.  We have agreed a generous % donation of all their sales at the fete.

Cake stall / refreshments - Members of St Andrew’s Church have volunteered to help run the kitchen refreshments alongside Mrs Dobson and Mrs Bowman.  The Brownies are running our cake stall and we are very grateful for this welcome community support.

Football Tournament - Thanks to Mrs Dickinson planning is underway again for this great event.  She has the support of Corbridge United leaders who are going to lead the games.

How are we going to use the funds we raised at the summer fete?

All funds raised will be used to development the outdoor environment around school.  Ideas and plans are being explored so we can develop the outdoors for enjoyment both at playtime and learning time.  We are researching the possibility of an onsite school allotment, relaxation and seating areas, a prayer garden and wildlife/nature areas.  The children will further explore these ideas through the school council and hopefully, following a successful fete, their plans can get underway!
