World Book Day - dress up + activities

2nd March 2017

We had a brilliant World Book day on 2 March – the children and staff looked fantastic in their costumes and it was really lovely to see the older and younger children mixing together in paired reading activities.  The children told me they enjoyed their visit to Forum Books and I know many of them took the opportunity to swap their voucher for one of the £1 World Book Day books.  We raised £114 from our dress up day and we will put this towards purchasing seating for our outdoor reading shed.  Reading is a vital skill and is so enjoyable we should encourage every child to develop and grow and inspire their interest.  Thank you for your support.  Thank you too to all the parents/carers who helped walk the children to and from Forum Books – as always, we couldn’t do it without you!  We've posted a few photographs for you to enjoy on our galleries page.

Come to school in your pyjamas or dressed up as your favourite book character- World Book Day/Visit to Forum Books – 2 March 2017 – come to school in your pyjamas or dressed up as your favourite book character for a donation of £1.00.  We would also like the children to bring in their favourite book or bedtime story to share with the other children.  We will be making a visit to Forum Books when the children will have the opportunity to redeem their World Book Day token for one of the special £1 World Book Day books or they can keep hold of the voucher to use against a different book.  Pyjamas/costumes need to be warm enough for this and for being outside at break and lunchtimes!  Throughout the day, there will be opportunities for older and younger children to mix together in paired reading activities as well as enjoying a favourite book with a cup of hot chocolate.  Donations will go towards purchasing seating for our outdoor reading shed – waterproof bean bags etc
