Y2 Visit to Gibside and Red Kite Ramble

15th July 2016

Dear Parents and Carers

Y2 Visit to Gibside – Red Kite Ramble – Friday 15 July 2016

We would like to end the year with a visit to Gibside, in the Derwent Valley, near Gateshead.  The trip will be on Friday 15 July.  Gibside is a wonderful National Trust property with acres of woodland to explore.  The children will have an adult led Red Kite Ramble. The area is well known for Red Kites.  As you know the class have been finding out about birds, and we hope to spot these birds along with many other woodland creatures.  We also hope to make use of the adventure playground and the low ropes obstacle course.

We will be travelling by coach leaving school at 9.15am and returning by 3.00pm.

Clothing and Footwear

We would like the children to come to school in home clothes and a school jumper/cardigan.  Sturdy footwear is essential as they will be walking through woodland.  Waterproof coats/sun hats will be required depending on the weather.  If it is sunny please make sure your child is wearing sun cream.

Lunch and Water Bottles

All children will require a packed lunch.  If your child normally has a school meal and would like a school packed lunch to be provided please indicate this on the attached reply slip.  Please also ensure that your child has a refillable water bottle to take on the visit.

Contribution

In order for the visit to go ahead we need to ask parents/carers to pay a contribution to cover the cost of entry to Gibside, the red kite ramble activity and the coach travel.  The cost of the visit will be £11.50.  Payment can be made in cash or by cheque (cheques should be made payable to NCC – please mark your child’s name and Gibside on the back of your cheque).

Please return the permission slip and payment by Friday 8 July 2016.

Yours sincerely
