Y3 - Visit to Vindolanda and Roman Army Museum

14th June 2017

Year Three Visit to the Roman Army Museum and Vindolanda

Wednesday 14 June 2017

Class Three will visit the Roman Army Museum and Vindolanda on Wednesday 14 June.

This trip links to our learning about the Romans.

Children should be brought to school at the usual time.  We will be travelling by coach.

Clothing and Footwear

It would be great if the children could come to school dressed as Romans for this visit e.g. they could dress up as a Roman soldier or wear a toga.   Costumes don't need to be elaborate but do need to be warm/appropriate for the weather as we will be outside for most of the day.

Children who do not wish to dress up should wear their school uniform.

Footwear - the children will be doing quite a lot of walking so please ensure they are wearing suitable shoes - walking boots, trainers etc.

The children will also need a waterproof jacket, sun cream, sun hat and water bottle

(preparation for all weathers!).

Lunch and Water Bottles

All children will require a packed lunch.

Please also ensure that your child has a refillable water bottle to take on the visit.

Contribution

In order for the visit to go ahead we need to ask parents/carers to pay a contribution to cover the cost of entry to both places we are visiting and the coach travel.  The cost of the visit will be £11.40.  Payment can be made in cash or by cheque (cheques should be made payable to NCC – please mark your child’s name and Vindolanda on the back of your cheque).

Parent Helpers

We are looking for a small number of parent helpers to accompany us on the visit.  Please indicate on the attached slip if you are able to help – we will take offers of help on a first come/first served basis.

Please return the attached permission slip along with your payment

no later than Friday 26 May 2017.  Thank you.
