Year 3 Visit to Vindolanda and Roman Army Museum

11th March 2016

Dear Parent/Carer

Year Three Visit to the Roman Army Museum and Vindolanda

Friday 11 March 2016

Class Three will visit the Roman Army Museum and Vindolanda on Friday 11 March 2016.

This trip links to our learning about the Romans.

Children should be brought to school at the usual time.  We will be travelling by coach.

Clothing and Footwear

We would very much like the children to dress up in a Roman costume for the visit.  We will offer suggestions for costumes closer to the time of the visit – costumes will need to be warm as we will be outdoors for most of the visit.    The children will need comfortable shoes that are suitable for walking.    The children should also bring a warm, waterproof jacket/coat, hat and gloves.    Children who do not wish to dress up should wear their school uniform.

 Lunch and Water Bottles

All children will require a packed lunch.  If your child normally has a school meal or is entitled to free school meals and would like a school packed lunch to be provided please indicate this on the slip below.  Please also ensure that your child has a refillable water bottle to take on the visit.

 Contribution

In order for the visit to go ahead we need to ask parents/carers to pay a contribution to cover the cost of entry to both places we are visiting and the coach travel.  The cost of the visit will be £11.10.  Payment can be made in cash or by cheque (cheques should be made payable to NCC – please mark your child’s name and Vindolanda on the back of your cheque).

Parent Helpers

We are looking for a small number of parent helpers to accompany us on the visit.  Please indicate on the attached slip if you are able to help – we will take offers of help on a first come/first served basis.

Please return the permission slip (see attached letter) along with your payment no later than Friday 4 March 2016.  Thank you.
