14th March 2016

Dear Parent/Carer

Year One – visit to Great North Museum: Hancock – Newcastle

Monday 14 March 2016

Year One will visit the Great North Museum: Hancock in Newcastle on Monday 14 March 2016.  The visit will link to our learning topic ‘Journeys and Explorers’.  We will be visiting the Polar Explorers exhibition and also the Planetarium.

Children should be dropped off at school at the usual time.  We will be travelling to Newcastle by coach.

Clothing

Children should wear their school uniform.

 Lunch and Water Bottles

All children will require a packed lunch.  If your child normally has a school meal and would like a school packed lunch to be provided please indicate this on the slip below.  Please also ensure that your child has a refillable water bottle to take on the visit.

Contribution

In order for the visit to go ahead we need to ask parents/carers to pay a contribution to cover the cost of the coach travel and entrance to The Planetarium.  The cost of the visit will be £7.50.  The entrance to the museum and the Polar Explorer exhibition is free but the museum do suggest a donation of £1.00.  We have included this in the visit cost.  Payment can be made in cash or by cheque (cheques should be made payable to NCC – please mark your child’s name and Great North Museum on the back of your cheque).

Parent Helpers

We are looking for a small number of parent helpers to accompany us on the visit.  Please indicate on the attached slip if you are able to help – we will take offers of help on a first come/first served basis.

Please return the attached permission slip along with your payment

no later than Monday 7 March 2016.  Thank you.
