Our Learning Gallery

We have had a fantastic start to the year in year 3. Our new topics have created excitement, conversation and show and tell opportunities from home learning.

This week we practised our skills with tools; mark making in clay. This is in preparation for designing and making our Stone age sculptures.
Black History Month
As part of black history month we have been learning about Alma Thomas - we looked at her early life, interests and life as an artist. Year 3 created work, inspired by her.
Our topic in computing this half term is coding - pupils have built up their skills over a number of weeks and have created their own scene.
Science- As part of our topic on 'Animals including humans', year 3 learnt about vertebrates and invertebrates. This lesson was a practical activity and we worked in groups to organise animals into each category.
Commando Joe's
We are learning all about Ed Stafford and his expedition, walking the length of the Amazon River. Today we completed some fitness training, packed the essentials and located Countries within South America, using an atlas.
Our new topic in computing is Graphing. Year 3 collected data on our favourite colours and created graphs to present this.
Hot seating - we came up with some questions bases on our knowledge of the main character in our book 'The Tin Forest'. Pupils then took the hot seat to respond to those questions in role.
In science this week, year 3 investigated which magnets were the strongest. This will help them to select which magnet to use when they create their star wars diorama over the coming weeks.
Star Wars - STEM wars
Year 3 have made some fantastic dioramas and labyrinths - using magnetism to create moving objects - may the force be with you!
RE - Salvation - What important events do Christians celebrate in during Holy week?
