Special Events
Over the course of the year we will be excited to participate in a variety of special events.
Keep checking in to see any upcoming events, and of course see lots of photographs in our gallery.
Bling your bike and scooter
As part of our Walk to School week, we were able to bring in our bikes and scooters for a healthy whizz around the track. We were able to 'bling' our wheels if we fancied, however I think most of us were too impatient to simply get going.
Look at our super skills- we had so much fun!
Christmas celebrations
It's the most wonderful time of the year...
Wow, what a super run up to Christmas we have had. From finding out about the true meaning of Christmas, to having visits from Twinketoes our Elf- December has been full of fun, exploring and music.
Unfortunately our trip to Chopwell Woods had to be cancelled due to the damage from Storm Arwen, however that did not deter our plucky little elf! She made it to school to share her magic and leave us clues to solve. It all culminated in the discovery of our very own Christmas tree she kindly left us. We had a great time making decorations and adorning them all over the tree- what a special Christmas surprise!
Although our families couldn't come in to share it with us, we enjoyed recording our Christmas songs to share with them on Tapestry.
STEM fortnight
Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths is such an enormous part of our world and we know that we need to embrace them and make them part of our every day lives. Our whole school has joined in with STEM fortnight, learning about different aspects of STEM.
In Nursery we were presented with a challenge and tested out different theories to see what we needed to use to make our own boats for the Gingerbread Man.
We started by reading the story of The Gingerbread Man, discussing how sad we felt when the sly fox gobbled the gingerbread man up!
We decided that we needed a new happier ending to the story, an ending where the gingerbread man successfully crossed the river. We talked about different ways this could happen, making a final decision between building a bridge or a boat. The children decided it would be better to build a boat for the gingerbread man to use to cross the river.
After a series of investigations to test materials for how well they could float, remain waterproof and be strong enough to sustain when submerged in water, the children created their own, totally independent boats. Well done nursery!
Thank you so much to our lovely families who came along to share the maiden voyages with us, we do really appreciate your support.

Our STEM visitor
We had an exciting visitor in EYFS during STEM fortnight; Rachel Mitchell.
Rachel works in ecology and conservation, helping to protect plants and animals from building works and developments.
We loved hearing about her day, or night investigations- listening to the bat calls was very exciting, however our most favourite part was investigating the poo!!
Luckily, Rachel brought it in sealed containers, however some children were desperate to take the owl pellet out and examine it closely for bones and fur!
We have now decided that we should have a bat box in school, and we are going to talk to Mr Gardiner to see if he can help us to build one.
Thank you very much Rachel.

Mother's Day event
To say a big 'thank you' and show how much we appreciate the people who look after us, we held a special event in the hall.
Crafts, cake and music were order of the day as we spent some special time with our loved ones. We finished the afternoon off with an extra special treat- a peer massage session for our families. It did make the grown ups laugh when we sat down in front for our massage first!
