Walk to School Month - October

3rd October 2022

October is ‘Walk to School Month!’

Many of our children love to be outdoors and enjoy being active as much as possible… which is what this month’s events are about. We know all children will be able to be involved even though they may not be able to actually walk to school!

Week beginning 3 October is ‘Walk to School’ week.

Throughout the week we will be encouraging as many people to join us in walking wherever possible. If you need to come in a car, we totally understand! Maybe you could park further along and walk part of the way to ease the congestion and make the road safer as well as getting in a few extra steps.

Tuesday 4 October: 'Happy Shoesday.’

Children are asked to wear shoes to school which make them happy! They may decide to add some ribbons or decorations to their shoes and we can’t wait to see them again this year!

Voluntary donations for the day will be accepted by school to go the ‘Living Streets’ road safety charity but are not required.

Walking Bus: A further parentmail discussing meeting points and timings to be sent to each year group

Wednesday 5 October: Year 3/4

Thursday 6 October: Year 1/2

Friday 7 October: Reception

Any children who are in Kids Club will be invited to join the bus on the appropriate day!

Week beginning 10 October is ‘Be Bright, Be Seen!’

As the dark nights are drawing in we will continue to speak with children about staying safe, including road safety and being seen!

Tuesday 11 October - Non-uniform Day Children are invited to wear their brightest clothes, and/or bright accessories to help them be seen!

Week beginning 17 October is ‘Wheely Active’ week

We once again will be thinking about the daily mile and using our grounds to enjoy moving miles through our playtimes!

On Tuesday 18 October – Bling a bike (or your wheels!)

This will be our ‘bring your wheels’ to school day. We would ‘wheely’ like the children to bring in their bike or scooter to school. The children will have the opportunity to clean and bling their bike before enjoying more active time scheduled through the day.

Week beginning 24 October (Half Term) – Out and About!

We hope you enjoy a super active half term exploring our local area and beyond. It would be fantastic if you could send in photos of different places you visit within the village and surrounding area over half term.

Please email to admin@corbridgefirst.northumberland.sch.uk or tweet your messages and pictures tagging us at @Cobridgefirst with a #OutandAbout so we can celebrate and retweet your activities on our feed.

We are looking forward to another fun and active month here at CFS.

Thank you for all your support,
