Y2 Visit to Gibside – Den Building and Habitat Investigation

Tuesday 27 June 2017

We would like to spend the day at Gibside, in the Derwent Valley, near Gateshead, as part of our learning about ‘Animals and Humans’.  The trip will take place on Tuesday 27 June.  Gibside is a wonderful National Trust property with acres of woodland to explore.  The children will have adult led sessions investigating different habitats and creating shelters.

We will be travelling by coach leaving school at 9.15am and returning by 3.00pm.

Clothing and Footwear

We would like the children to come to school in home clothes and a school jumper/cardigan.  Sturdy footwear is essential as they will be walking through woodland.  The children will also need a rain jacket and sun hat.  Please also make sure your child has sun cream applied before coming to school.

Packed Lunch and Water Bottles

All children will require a packed lunch.  If your child normally has a school meal and would like a school packed lunch(no cost as entitled to lunch under Universal Free School Meal Scheme) to be provided please indicate this on the attached reply slip.  Please also ensure that your child has a refillable water bottle to take on the visit.

Contribution

In order for the visit to go ahead we need to ask parents/carers to pay a contribution to cover the cost of entry to Gibside, the adult led activities and the coach travel.  The cost of the visit will be £12.40.  Payment can be made in cash or by cheque (cheques should be made payable to NCC – please mark your child’s name and Gibside on the back of your cheque).

Please return the permission slip and payment by Wednesday 21 June 2017.
