Y3 - Roman Community Art Project

17th March 2017

Y3 – Roman Community Art Project – Friday 17 March 2017

Year 3 will be walking to the Corbridge Roman Town – Hadrian’s Wall, on the morning of Friday 17 March.  The children are taking part in the Roman Community Art Project this half term - Hadrian’s Cavalry Project.  The project is based on the history of the Romans and Roman horses.  We will be working with the artist Karen Macdougall.  We will have three sessions working with Karen (further sessions in school on 24 and 31 March) to create relief panels using paper pulp then carving the surface with the image of a Roman horse.  Within this each child will be working towards their own Arts award Discover.

The work created during our sessions will be displayed at the Corbridge Roman Town as part of the Roman Cavalry Exhibition which is running in the museum from April to September.

This project is a great introduction to our summer topic work.

Our participation in this project is entirely free.

The children will be back in school in time for lunch on Friday 17 March.
