Our Global Goal at Corbridge CE First School
Corbridge CE First School has a big heart and a passion for supporting the local community and the wider world. All members of our school community take an active role in looking after God’s world. We pride ourselves on acting with dignity and integrity and ask children and adults alike to work together to build a fairer and more sustainable world for everyone. We are striving to maintain our status as a Climate Friendly School and limit the impact that we have upon the climate and the planet. The work we carry out in school fully supports both Northumberland County Council’s and the DfE’s aim to be Net Zero by 2030.
Our chosen goal: Year 2
- Life on Land
- Life Below Water
The global goals for Life on Land and Life Below Water help children understand how to care for animals, plants, and natural habitats. In the Year 2 curriculum, this links closely to science topics where pupils learn about living things, habitats, and how environments can change. For example, children explore how animals depend on plants and each other to survive, and why it is important to protect forests, oceans, and rivers. Through activities like identifying habitats, learning about food chains and discussing pollution, pupils begin to see how their actions (such as recycling or not littering) can help protect the natural world. These global goals encourage young learners to become responsible and caring towards nature, both on land and in water.
