Welcome to Year 2! 

Hello and welcome to our Year 2 class page! I am Miss Baxter and I am so excited to begin a brand-new year of learning, fun, and discovery together with Mrs Carruthers and Mrs Dixon.

This year, we’ll be exploring exciting topics, building new skills in reading, writing, and maths, and growing our confidence as curious learners.

Here you’ll find updates about what we’re learning, special events, and ways to celebrate our achievements. We’ll also share photos and highlights of our classroom adventures, so you can join us on the journey.

We can’t wait to see what amazing things Year 2 will bring. Together, we will work hard, support one another, and make this a fantastic year!

KS1 Optional SATs – Parent Information

We would like to let you know that our school will be using the optional KS1 SATs assessments to support our understanding of children’s attainment in reading, writing and mathematics at the end of Year 2.The assessments are optional for schools and are only one part of how we assess children’s learning; we also use classwork, observations and ongoing assessments to give our end of year judgements. 

The assessments are carried out in a calm and supportive way and will be approached as a normal part of the children's everyday learning at school. Parents/Carers can best support their child by reading regularly, practising everyday maths, encouraging writing and maintaining a positive attitude towards learning.

Our priority is to ensure that children feel happy, confident and supported throughout the process.
