Our last Ofsted inspection was in April 2025.
The inspection was ungraded â meaning the school maintains its previous âGoodâ grading.
Inspectors shared that Corbridge First School is âa happy and welcoming placeâ where âpupils work hard, enjoy their learning and typically achieve wellâ â which was a delight to read!
Inspectors also concluded:
-
The school has a âcomprehensiveâ curriculum which is âambitious for pupilsâ in particular ânurturing a love of reading for all pupilsâ
-
âHigh expectations for pupilâs learning and wellbeing are shared by allâ.
-
The school âhelps prepare pupils well for life beyond schoolâ and encourages them to be âactive and positive citizens in their communityâ
-
Pupils with special educational needs or disabilities are âwell supportedâ and âparents and carers appreciate the support they and their children receiveâ.
-
Staff are âproud to work at the schoolâ.
-
Pupils receive âthe support they need, when they need itâ and are proud of the schools âStrong Christian values and nurturing ethosâ.
-
âPupils flourish hereâ and praised the school for the âharmonious atmosphere, which permeates all areasâ.
A lot of schools dread Ofsted but we were actually disappointed to only get an ungraded expectation as we thought we had a strong chance of achieving âoutstandingâ â but the feedback from inspectors places us in an even stronger position to reach that next time.
I was overjoyed to see inspectors recognise that pupil voice is âat the heart of the schoolâs ethos.â Thatâs key to what weâre trying to achieve at Corbridge â so I was delighted that this was obvious to inspectors as soon as they stepped through the door. On a personal level, it means the world to me that the inspectors immediately recognised the respect and kindness our children show every day and the effort we make to develop their character and awareness of the world around them â and beyond!
Iâd like to thank all the staff and governors for their outstanding efforts and our parents for all their support.
Co-Chairs of the Governing Body, Elisabeth Charman and Gayle Baty, are equally as delighted. They comment: "The outcome of the Ofsted inspection confirms what we knew about Corbridge being an excellent school, giving children the best possible start to their education. This takes hard work by a lot of people and we are proud to thank all staff, governors, parents and the children for working so hard to make Corbridge so special. We are thrilled!"
